I went to the city searching for a job, but I got no offers

(the title is from The Boxer by simon and garfunkel) i did one for my ceramic arts specifically Burnaby and Holt the first 2 i did sense they are still 2 of my favorites. The other is to show that i dabble in photography. i was going for a professional but still young look to them so that if the person hiring is looking for someone clean cut but still modern that my business cards would catch their eye and cause them to be like "oh, they're perfect!"

"My job as an artist is to find beauty in ugliness."

for this one it was hard to get all the photos because when i would remember to take them when the lighting was good i would finish one part of my house and then move on, but then when i got to the other parts that light had moved and i had to wait another day to finish the project. overall i'm very pleased at how the pictures turned out, i'm no photographer so i was slightly worried that about the quality of my photos, but alls well that ends well! on the actual house i used a color pallet of yellow, white and a black, i mixed them together to make sort of a putty color to really help bring out the yellows in my pics, then after the first layer had dried i added some solid yellow and white and a lite layer of black on the string holding the pages together. it turned out really nice and i'm super happy with it!
The Time is in the *80s!

i'm glad that this project turned out as well as it did, color wise it is much darker than my original idea but it sends a very clear message. by using only dark reds, off warm grays and cool grays really helps to make the point clear to the viewer and respond with either positive agreement (mr.trijio) and those who may defend raegan ( a conservative substitute teacher i had) over all i'm very pleased that my first poster may piss off people, or make them really think about the politics and the discovery of AIDS.

This Cause Ain't big enough for the two of us.

(the title is because reagan played a cowboy on tv)
the challenge on this one was how to portray a crowd without having to individually drawing a person over and over again, the solution was to simplify a person to a basic shape which also helped to translate the message that he considered people with AIDS less then human because it was considered "a gay disease" which was corrected in time, but the fact that reagan remained silent while people were dying is still very much apparent even to someone, such as myself, how has grown up knowing about how AIDS is transmitted and that every one can get it.
reagan is only black and white to show how old fashioned he was in mind set and perspective i also drew him as an elderly reagan to show his old style of thinking.

a lesson in flexibility, the hard way.

well, as of today we have just finished our first project of the year. . . and wow there was a time that i thought we would never finish, our group butted creative heads right and left it made getting a solid idea incredibly difficult. the idea like jell-o was always shifting but never quiet changing all together, as an illustrator it was hard to draw something and have the group recognize it's existence enough to not blame me for their slow progression, i felt like the scapegoat of the group and that even though i tried to be flexible and understanding as it can be hard to come to a consensus in a group as large as ours but every step i took in drawing they seemed to never be appeased, and i don't want to sound like i didn't contribute to the frustration directed at me i realize that my attitude probably didn't help all that much because i was over this project the third week and gave up trying to work with my group which turned our already slow group into a glob of molasses on a cold morning. although, finally, last week the director seemed to take more charge in terms of artistic vision after she told me what to draw and how she wanted it done i was finally able to work without feeling completely ignored, especially after being told to "do whatever", and after being told i was doing the entire ending animation myself, and i'm not going to kid myself i am no animator as well as my group seemed to think that animation was a walk in the park in terms of ease of completion, so i told them that Kane should do the animation because frankly she has more animation experience than me as well as people seem to respond more positively to her art rather than mine, which is amazingly frustrating to be compared to an artist that is equal to me but in completely different ways and styles.
so in retrospect i feel that the finished product is quiet well done and that all this heart ache, blood, sweat and tears weren't for nothing, or so i hope.
